Stephanie V. Gomez-Somera is a Philippine corporate lawyer specializing in contract law and negotiation, corporate organization, reorganization and rehabilitation, and intellectual property law.
After placing 11th in the 1987 bar examinations, Atty. Gomez-Somera began her law practice with the firm Carpio Villaraza and Cruz (now Villaraza and Angangco), and joined the Office of the Chief Presidential Legal Counsel during the term of President Fidel V. Ramos.
She was Vice President and Chief Legal Counsel of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation and the Communications Group of the Lopez Group of Companies prior to embarking on her current private practice.
The author of Credit Transactions: Notes and Cases, a University of the Philippines College of Law centennial textbook, she teaches the subject at the College of Law and has lectured for the Philippine Judicial Academy, the University of the Philippines Law Center, and other law organizations.
She authored the casebook, Carpio on the Constitution, for the retirement of Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio from the Philippine Supreme Court.
She is a graduate of the University of the Philippines with degrees in Political Science (magna cum laude) and Law.
