Historical Truths and Lies: Scarborough Shoal in Ancient Maps
The Institute for Maritime and Ocean Affairs (IMOA) will launch a cartographic exhibit based on the 6 June 2014 lecture of Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio on the facts and lies relating to China's historical rights claim to Scarborough Shoal. The exhibit will tour various universities starting with De La Salle University where it will run from 11 September until 26 September 2014. The exhibit will then travel to the Asian Center of the University of the Philippines, where it will run from 23 October to 15 November 2014. Schedules for other universities and colleges will be posted on the IMOA website.

The Philippine Law Journal
In December 2012, the Philippine Law Journal, the only state-funded law review in the Philippines, launched a project to achieve full digitization of all its printed articles. Two years later, the new website of the PLJ provides greater accessibility to its on-line resources with a user-friendly interface and state of the art search capabilities.
The PLJ website now allows easy access to all articles published in the journal, including an article I had written in 1987, as a senior in the U.P. College of Law. The article entitled "The Standards of a Child's Library: The Irrationality of the Obscenity Defense to Copyright Infringement" signified the beginning of my specialization in Intellectual Property Law. Although written over 25 years ago, it is heartening to note that the legal arguments remain sound and the excerpted quote from a decision penned by Justice Learned Hand is worth revisiting.

Maroon Pride: Where We Are Now
The future is never certain. But we can choose to see that uncertainty as a message of hope, as a sign that if we persevere then the future can be as we envision it. Every day our Fighting Maroons choose to be hopeful. That is why they train, practice, and train again. That is why they relish victory and move forward. That is why they face defeat and go on...
We at Maroon Pride face an uncertain future as well. We do not know if we will continue to be able to raise the support we need to keep publishing because each issue requires time, money and resources. But we look at our 2-volume, 6-issue body of work, and we persevere. We look at the 21 teams we have featured, and the 11 teams that have directly benefitted from advertising sponsorships, and we work harder...
(Reprinted from "Time Out," Maroon Pride, "Netizens," Volume 2, Number 3, A.Y. 2013-2014. As of today, there are 12 beneficiary teams and Maroon Pride is working on its third volume.)
